Meghan Markle's pal weighs in on strength of Princess Kate and Prince William's marriage

Meghan Markle’s ally and author of Endgame Omid Scobie wrote about Prince William and Princess Kate’s “solid” relationship in his explosive book, which was released last November.

Kate has recently found herself at the centre of a media storm after her Mother’s Day image was taken down by picture agencies over fears it had been altered, with the Princess later releasing an apology for the confusion.

Omid Scobie has often spoken up in defence of Meghan and Prince Harry following their fallout with the Royal Family, however according to him Kate and William have a strong bond.

The author claimed he had spoken to intimate sources for his book and gave an insight into the Wales family’s life together at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.

He said: “Windsor’s quiet, rural environment is exactly what they were looking for. The royal estate, said sources, provides the children with plenty of safe space to run, cycle and play in privacy.”

There were still a few bumps in the road for William and Kate, as they split for a few months back in 2007 but quickly reunited after the Prince realised he had made a serious error.

Robert Jobson, author of William at 40, discussed the relationship on an episode of Hello! Magazine’s A Right Royal Podcast earlier this year.

He said: “When they did break up on a more serious level, William quickly realised that he was completely wrong. He was probably listening to outside sources or outside people. But then perhaps looked at his father’s inability to marry or commit to Camilla early on, and realised he’d made a big error and tried to win her back.

“I think, in ways, she [Kate] laid out some guidelines, some rules, for how it had to go. She wasn’t going to be messed around and, in doing so, showed her strength.”

Mr Jobson noted that the “friendship” between Kate and William had helped them to go the distance, as he added: “You only have to look at the way they look at each other to realise they are very much in love. And I think that she’s a real asset to not only William but the Royal Family as a whole.”

Kate admitted during their engagement interview in 2010 that she “wasn’t very happy” about the breakup at the time, but has since come to realise that it was for the best.

She said: “At the time I wasn’t very happy about it but actually it made me a stronger person. You find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realised. I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you’re younger. I really valued that time, for me as well, although I didn’t think it at the time.”
