Meghan Markle's mouthpiece Omid Scobie announces new royal book with fresh twist

Author Omid Scobie – who is often referred to as Meghan Markle’s ‘mouthpiece’ – has revealed that he will be releasing a brand-new royal book titled ‘Royal Spin’.

Despite what many may believe, the new book will be rather different to his previous tomes ‘Finding Freedom’ and ‘Endgame’ – with Scobie, this time, opting to make his ‘fiction debut’.

But he’s sticking to the royal theme as his novel will follow a “young American woman who leaves a press role at the White House for one at Buckingham Palace”.

According to an article posted on publishersweekly.com, Omid will co-write the book with US young adult fiction author Robin Benway.

The book has also been billed as a “fun, fish-out-of-water romantic workplace comedy”.

The new book will see the character enter “a hotbed of office politics where tradition (almost) always wins”.

Mr Scobie, 42, has described the announcement as “exciting news” and “marks the start of something very special”.

Taking to X, Scobie wrote: “Some exciting news to share [via @PublishersWkly]. Can’t wait to share more details about this project with you all. Today’s announcement marks the start of something very special.”

Rights of the novel have been acquired in North America by Liz Stein, who is the executive editor of William Morrow – a major part of HarperCollins.

Scobie’s co-author, Robin wrote: “It’s been a minute but here’s some exciting news!”

The author’s latest announcement comes just a day after he tweeted out following the Princess of Wales’s apology over the edited Mother’s Day photo.

He tweeted: “It’s fair to say that most photos released by the offices of public figures have been retouched in some way, so *if* this was an isolated incident then it would just be an unfortunate error.

“But with the Palace’s long history of lying, covering up, and even issuing statements on behalf of family members without their permission (cc: Prince Harry), it’s becoming increasingly difficult for the public to believe a word (and now photo) they share. Gaining that back at this point is an almost impossible task.”

In a subtle dig at Kensington Palace, he earlier tweeted out: “Wonder what it would be like if they had a good comms team?”

He also described the withdrawal of the photos as “mysterious”.

Mr Scobie released Endgame in November 2023, and co-wrote Finding Freedom in 2020.
