Meghan Markle's 'bigger' engagement ring already worth huge sum after first glitzy tweak

Meghan Markle’s engagement ring vanished from her hand last year, sparking much speculation about its whereabouts. It was claimed the three-diamond accessory, given to her Prince Harry in 2017, was “being fixed”.

Now, the gem appears to have made a reappearance, but eagled-eyed internet users are claiming something is very different about it.

In a recent Instagram post for her friend Kelly Zajfren’s charity, Alliance of Moms, Meghan – who shares a massive net worth with her husband – was once again donning the ring. Online sleuths claimed the central rock on the royal ring appeared to have “doubled in size”.

“Is it just me or has #MeghanMarkle’s engagement ring doubled in size? ” one social media user queried, alongside a close-up image of the diamond.

“I’ve been saying she took wedding ring off to slowly change the size of the diamond. It wasn’t big enough for her,” another chimed in.

One said: “Meghan hadn’t been wearing her engagement ring for all that time to have yet ANOTHER upgrade to it.”

Last August, an insider close to Meghan, who has been accused of ruffling feathers in Hollywood, addressed rumours about her absent jewellery, asserting it was merely “being fixed”.

It wouldn’t be the first time the ring had undergone alterations, with Meghan swapping the original gold band for a thin micro-pave version in 2019.

The ring was initially valued at around £122,500, when the three stones sat on a simple gold band. The design featured two rings from Princess Diana’s private collection, flanking a large central stone from Botswana, one of Harry’s favourite places.

With the pave diamond band upgrade, the value of the ring skyrocketed. At the time an expert exclusively told Express: “I do not think she has changed the stone, it was always more of a rectangle, and not an emerald cut.

“The stunning new addition of a pave set band gives the ring a more dainty appearance, although this will not massively increase the cost. The ring would be estimated in the region of £250,000.”
