Meghan Markle unlikely to visit UK with ‘no reason’ for future trips, says royal expert

The Duchess of Sussex will “most likely” not make any trips to the UK in 2024 according to a royal expert. Royal commentator, Richard Fitzwilliams, told GB News: “I don’t think Meghan will wish to visit the UK.

“The Sussexes are totally unpredictable, that is one of the problems in dealing with them.” He added: “Does Meghan want to come to the UK? She is very low in poll ratings, the interest in them is in the US.

“I don’t see Meghan wanting to visit the UK, there is no reason for it.” The last time Meghan Markle was in the UK was for the late Queen Elizabeth’s funeral service in September 2022, held at Westminster Abbey. Meghan attended the funeral alongside Prince Harry and wider members of the Royal Family.

For King Charles’s coronation, Prince Harry came back to the UK on his own in May after Meghan decided to stay away from the landmark event. Harry’s appearance in the UK was only brief, as he was spotted making a swift exit after the ceremony.

Reports at the time stated there were “genuine concerns” members of the public could boo Meghan if she visited events in Britain, in the wake of her controversial Oprah Winfrey interview.

This Christmas, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry chose to once again spend their festive season in California rather than travel to the UK to spend time with the royals.

They remain at odds with the Duke’s family after their repeated criticism of royal life in their Netflix series and Harry’s memoir Spare.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams cited the recent release of the book ‘Endgame’ by Omid Scobie as another contributor to the tension between the Sussexes and the royals.

In 2023, the Duchess of Sussex avoided returning to the UK and her absence looks likely to continue after Prince Harry turned down an invitation to reunite with his family in 2024.

King Charles, Queen Camilla, and the Prince and Princess of Wales are all expected to attend the Duke of Westminster’s wedding in summer 2024.

Hugh Grosvenor is due to marry the gourmet food firm executive, Olivia Henson, at Chester Cathedral. Despite being close to the groom, who is godfather to Prince Harry and Meghan’s son Archie, it is thought Harry and Meghan will not attend due to fears it would be “too awkward”, according to royal commentators.
