Meghan Markle and Prince Harry title removal would be 'final nail in coffin' for peace

Coram James said: “Stripping the Sussexes of their royal titles will only serve to make Charles look as though he’s descending into the fray and getting his hands dirty.

“Whereas to many it may seem deserved, the overriding sentiment would be that of Charles joining the Sussexes in the fray.

“It would undermine all of the very careful work that he has done to make himself appear the grownup in a room of squabbling children.

“It would also be explosive tabloid fodder, would be the final nail in the coffin for any chance of reconciliation, would drag the story into yet another chapter and would deepen the resentment from the Sussex camp, making further damaging allegations from them much more likely.”

Coram James argued removing the titles could also “completely devastate” the King’s own image with “no reward.”

The GoUp founder added: “No, if Charles wishes for the story truly to move on, and if he is wanting a positive outcome from it, then he must keep doing what he’s been doing so well: Never complain, never explain.

“And never, ever get involved in the scrap personally. Removing their royal titles would achieve very little from a PR perspective, but would completely devastate his crisis communications and reputation management strategy to date.

“It’s a high-risk, no-reward play and one that he must avoid at all costs.”

Before their departure from the Royal Family, Harry and Megha agreed not to use their titles for commercial purposes.

While they maintained their HRH status as well, they are no longer allowed to use the honorific as they are not working members of the family.
