BBC Breakfast critic slams Prince William's 'PR stunt' branding royal appearance 'vulgar'

A BBC Breakfast viewer hit out at Prince William’s appearance branding it a publicity stunt.

During Friday’s offering, a segment aired where the Prince of Wales offered support to campaigners in Slough to raise awareness about suicide.

BBC Breakfast’s official account wrote: “Prince William has shocked Emma Webb who is pulling a life-sized model horse on a marathon walk after her teenage daughter Brodie took her life.

“On #BBCBreakfast Fiona Lamdin also joined Emma as she walked from Chepstow to London.”

One critic wrote: “We’re all shocked by his vulgar desire for publicity, in order to appear relevant. How much did this PR stunt cost local taxpayers?”

But royal fans rushed to defend William, as one social media user wrote: “That’s one way to look at it, the other is the he’s giving support and publicity to a great cause and achievement.”

The critic in question hit back: “And what about the local services that are impacted, due to royal security and other visit costs?”

An X user added: “And what about the courage that mother is showing following her loss. Such a lovely gesture to show support, so uplifting.”

Prince William embraced Emma after unexpectedly joining her on her walk from Chepstow, Monmouthshire to London to raise money and awareness of mental health.
