Meghan Markle and Prince Harry need Royal branding as they have 'nothing else to offer'

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are holding on to their royal links because it is “the only thing that is special about them”, a PR expert told Daily Express US.

This week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle launched their new website Sussex.com.

Harry and Meghan’s new page includes text stating: “The Office of Prince Harry & Meghan, The Duke & Duchess of Sussex”.

In a statement following the website’s launch, Meghan said she worked with “the talented team at Article” to redesign the page because of “their attention to detail, their creativity and care, and the thoughtful approach to design as well as to the user experience.”

A notable part of the website is the inclusion of a royal coat of arms.

The website could risk another fallout with the royals.

When Harry and Meghan left the Firm in 2020, they reached an agreement with the then-monarch Queen Elizabeth II.

Part of the ‘Megxit’ deal was that Harry and Meghan were unable to use ‘SussexRoyal’ in any of their branding.

The new website’s similar name risks bringing the disagreement back to the fore, but Ms Maclaran says the royals are unlikely to raise concerns.

She added: “The royals have bigger things to think about. Also, this isn’t unexpected.

“Harry and Meghan needed a fresh image, but it is no surprise that they have chosen to reinforce their royal links.

“There have been signs that they want to reconcile with the royals, such as birthday wishes and Harry rushing to the UK after the news of the King’s illness.

“The royal link is a strategic benefit to Harry and Meghan to enable them to keep using their royal status as a unique selling point.”

Harry and Meghan were pictured in Whistler, Canada, on Wednesday as they attended the Invictus Games.
