Royal fans issue same complaint after Prince William’s move on Charlotte’s birthday

Royal fans have questioned a move by Prince William after he was spotted suffering Aston Villa’s loss at Villa Park on May 2. The significance of this date was due to the fact it was Princess Charlotte’s ninth birthday.

Football mad, Prince William was glued to the action supporting Aston Villa in their UEFA Conference League semi-final against Olympiacos but their side went down 4-2 at home in the first leg.

Commenting on the decision to watch Aston Villa’s losing performance, royal fans on social media platform, X, wrote: “Prince William is missing his daughter’s birthday for this Villa performance” alongside a crying-face emoji.

Other fans hoped Prince William had time beforehand to celebrate with his daughter, as @mariashadowhun1 wrote: “Eh hopefully they celebrated charlottes birthday before the game also William should take charlotte to more women football games.”

The second half of the game was delayed due to a medical emergency in one of the stands that also meant hundreds of fans reportedly had to be evacuated from the area. An announcer later said: “We would like to thank all the medical staff for their prompt support.”

The royal fans’ comments come as Princess Charlotte is known to be a fan of the England Lionesses. Prince William and his daughter made a surprise appearance in a sweet video shared on social media ahead of the Women’s Euro 2022 Final match between England and Germany.

While Charlotte has been a longtime football fan, William is president of the English Football Association and makes regular appearances at games.

Last month Prince William was seen with Prince George to watch Villa play Lille in their Europa Conference League quarter-final. The heir to the throne was seen in the stands with his 10-year-old son clapping and cheering.

On May 2, a new picture of a grinning Princess Charlotte was released to mark her ninth birthday.

The snap, which shows the youngster casually leaning against a fence, was shared by the Prince and Princess of Wales on their social media accounts. Mum, Princess Kate, took the unedited photograph at Windsor.

Sharing the image, the royal couple said: “Happy 9th Birthday, Princess Charlotte! Thank you for all of the kind messages today.”

Kate and William released the image in the same way Prince Louis’s sixth birthday was marked last week. It marked a deviation from the usual process, which saw the images issued to the press in advance under embargo. The couple instead shared the image directly to their social media accounts on the day of their birthdays, rather than the night before.
