Marella Cruises passengers banned from bringing four items onboard | Cruise | Travel

A cruise holiday can be an incredible opportunity to see a range of different countries and their beautiful natural landscapes, but only if you follow the rules. Marella is one of the UK’s favourite cruise lines, but it has an extensive list of items that passengers are prohibited from bringing on board, including a variety of aerosol cans.

This is due to the fact that many aerosol cans are combustible and could explode under certain circumstances, posing a threat to tourists and crew members. Nonetheless, some of the most commonly used types of aerosols, such as deodorant and hairspray, are permitted on board. Holidaymakers preparing for a Marella cruise should also ensure they leave any items containing a heating element at home.

While passengers often enjoy bringing a few home comforts like a coffee machine, these are forbidden as the elements they contain can significantly increase the risk of a fire starting on board.

Fortunately, this ban, which is common on almost all cruise ships, does not extend to hair straighteners and curling irons.

Likewise, passengers intending to bring certain types of batteries on board a Marella vessel may find themselves embarrassed at the cruise terminal.

Marella Cruises has issued a strict reminder to holidaymakers about their safety policies and the potential fire hazards posed by unattended charging devices on board.

Passengers are reminded that personal battery-operated devices are welcome aboard, provided they are not left charging unsupervised.

The cruise line’s alcohol policy also means that only drinks served by staff are allowed under the standard all-inclusive package.

They cautioned travellers with stern advice: “On your flight and once onboard our ships, you can only drink the alcohol that staff serve you.”

During boarding, their policy allows for luggage inspections and the confiscation of any alcohol believed to have been bought elsewhere.

Marella advised passengers: “During embarkation, we have the right to search luggage and hold any alcohol that we believe has not been purchased on your flight – please retain your proof of purchase.

“Any alcohol that is not permitted onboard will be returned to you on your departure.”
