King Charles's very apt nickname revealed in new book – and he even has a tie to match

King Charles III appears to have a very apt nickname, as revealed in author Robert Hardman’s new royal book titled ‘Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story’.

The royal has often been spotted out-and-about sporting a rather unroyal tie, which appears to lent him a new nickname.

On several occasions, including during the Christmas Day walk in Sandringham, King Charles has worn a pale pink silk tie that features a light blue tyrannosaurus rex pattern.

The 75-year-old is understood to have been given the nickname of ‘C-Rex’ by a member of his family.

Noted in Mr Hardman’s new book, which is published today, the author wrote that the King’s “capacity for gloomy introspection” appears to have lifted and that the monarch is noticeably “more cheerful”.

Mr Hardman wrote: “The new mood has even permeated his wardrobe.

“Finding gifts for a man who really does have everything might be tricky but, since his accession, his family have given the King several new ties.”

But the King does appear to have one “particular favourite”, as the author noted: “A particular favourite, seen on numerous occasions, from church at Sandringham to a walkabout in Manchester, is of pale pink silk with a light blue tyrannosaurus rex pattern all over it.”

He went on to add that one member of the King’s team said, “‘Is the T-Rex motif a humorous coded play on C-Rex? I couldn’t possibly say’.”

He is said to replied that with a grin, strongly suggesting that it could be true.

Turning to the late monarch, Mr Hardman said that Elizabeth II “throughly enjoyed” being Queen.

Like his late mother, the author said that King Charles is “very happy being monarch”.

It was revealed by the Palace on Wednesday that King Charles is scheduled to undergo an operation next week for a newly-diagnosed enlarged prostate.

The King reportedly wished to share his diagnosis to encourage other men to check their own health.

During a solo visit in Aberdeen today, Queen Camilla shared an update on her husband, stating that he is in good spirits but “looking forward to getting back to work”.
