King Charles wrote second Christmas Day speech 'without help of scriptwriters'

King Charles’s second every Christmas Day speech will be broadcast tomorrow, as the monarch has reportedly not consulted any advisers to help him write it.

One of the focuses of the address this year, shown every Christmas Day at 3pm, will be the environment, with the King set to deliver his speech in front of a living Christmas tree for the first time.

The tree will also be decorated with “natural and sustainable decorations, including hand turned wood, dried oranges, brown glass, pine cones and paper” and will be replanted afterwards.

The speech has already been recorded in Buckingham Palace’s Centre Room, although there has been no insight into exactly what will be said during the 10-minute address.

On Christmas Day itself the King will be with the rest of the Royal Family at Sandringham, where they will attend a morning church service before tucking into their Christmas dinner.
