King Charles' unusual ritual he carries out every time he's asked to complete popular task

King Charles has an unconventional routine that he follows whenever he is requested to perform a common task expected of royalty. The monarch has currently stepped back from public-facing royal duties while he undergoes treatment for cancer.

While he is going ahead with the duties behind the scenes, it seems he may some some extra spare time to enjoy his passions in life, such as art and gardening, reports Mirror Online.

The King is a fan of horticulture, with the mesmerising gardens at his country residence Highgrove in Gloucestershire designed by the King himself.

He frequently participates in gardening during royal events, where it’s customary to have him plant a tree to commemorate the visit.

This suggests he may have planted many trees during his duties, and it appears he has a peculiar ritual each time he does so.

According to the official royal website, after planting each tree, Charles grabs one of the branches, gives it a friendly shake and wishes it well.

It seems he loves trees so much, he built an arboretum and planted a wood at Balmoral naming it Prince George’s Wood in his eldest grandson’s honour.

He told the BBC in 2021: “The great thing was that I managed to plant it the same year that my grandson was born, the eldest, George, so I thought I’d call it Prince George’s Wood.”

He added: “As I get older all I long for is to plant trees. I hope it will be quite amusing for George, as they grow up, and he grows up.”

Meanwhile, King Charles is set to make an official visit to Australia this year despite his recent cancer diagnosis.

The visit will be the first from a reigning monarch since 2011 and is set to happen later this year, according to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

“The King has shown his compassion for Australians affected by recent natural disasters, just as Australians have shown compassion and support for the King following his cancer diagnosis,” Mr Albanese said on Sunday.

“The King, Queen and members of the Royal Family are always welcome in Australia,” he added.

Buckingham Palace has not confirmed plans, but royal sources told The Mirror that the trip would probably happen in October to coincide with a visit to New Zealand and would include the Queen.

The King recently missed the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey as he continued to undergo treatment for cancer. However, he released a video message to celebrate the event where he hailed the spirit of togetherness throughout the 56 member states.
