King Charles 'so devoted to job' he spends nights 'locked alone' in one room

King Charles is said to be “so devoted” to his role as monarch that he often spends time “locked away” working in one room. The monarch had often been referred to as a ‘workaholic’ and this is said to still be the case – even at the age of 75.

King Charles is currently in hospital for treatment for an enlarged prostate.

Writing in her article for the Daily Mail, royal correspondent Rebecca English spoke of the King’s admirable devotion to his role.

She wrote: “But Charles is a workaholic, who famously packs in ten to 12 engagements and meetings a day and spends many a night alone in his study, furiously writing letters and keeping up with his paperwork, well into the early hours.

“His wife knows he won’t change, and nor would she want him to.”

Queen Camilla is said to want her husband to “slow down” – especially since undergoing treatment for an enlarged prostate earlier today.

Prince Harry, who now lives in the US, has also previously spoken of his father’s work ethic.

Writing in his memoir Spare, which was released last year, Harry wrote: “Pa had always been a worker. He believed in work. Everyone must work, he often said. But his own work was also a kind of religion, because he was furiously trying to save the planet…”

As well as this, the correspondent also revealed that the King’s staff are set to bring one thing into him in the hospital – permitting that he recovers well.

Ms English wrote: “I can also reveal that staff are even expecting to take paperwork into the hospital for him to deal with later this afternoon, depending on how he recovers from the anaesthetic.”

According to the article, a source added they “would not be surprised if he is back working later”.

Earlier today, January 26, Buckingham Palace revealed that the King had been admitted to The London Clinic in Marylebone.

The Palace released a statement, which read: “The King was this morning admitted to a London hospital for scheduled treatment.

“His Majesty would like to thank all those who have sent their good wishes over the past week and is delighted to learn that his diagnosis is having a positive impact on public health awareness.”

The Princess of Wales was also admitted to the same hospital last week for “planned” abdominal surgery.

The mother-of-three is still recovering at the hospital and is said to have been visited by her father-in-law earlier today.
