King Charles puts plans for succession in place but Prince Harry left out in the cold

King Charles is said to be planning for the succession of his heir Prince William, however the plans are being kept “highly secret” from Prince Harry.

His Majesty was diagnosed with cancer last month after undergoing a routine operation to treat an enlarged prostate, and although his prognosis is good the Royal Family still has to prepare for every eventuality.

Royal author Tom Quinn told the Mirror that the Prince of Wales is “at the heart of the succession planning”, but “no one trusts Harry” due to his revelations about the Firm in his memoir Spare.

Harry flew over to London for just 25 hours to see his father for a 30-minute meeting at Clarence House before the latter travelled to Sandringham, leading to hope of a reconciliation between the pair.

However, for William, the chances of forgiveness seem smaller, particularly after Harry laid into his brother and his sister-in-law Princess Kate in Spare.

Mr Quinn wrote: “Charles is also aware that, as future king, William is at the heart of the succession planning that is taking place right now.

“Officials had assumed Charles would remain healthy at least into his mid-eighties before succession planning would need to begin but in fact it has now begun and indicates perhaps that Charles’ cancer is more dangerous than we have been led to believe.

“Succession planning is highly secret and no one trusts Harry to be part of it for the simple reason that if he feels in any way slighted or not given what he feels he deserves he will run straight to the media.”

The Duke of Sussex has been tipped for a temporary return to royal life as his father recovers, however Buckingham Palace has shut down the rumours.

An inside source told The Sun: “How could this even work? Is Harry really saying he’d fly back from California to attend an investiture?

“The Queen, Prince William, Princess Anne and Edward and Sophie are more than capable of holding the fort. And what would it mean for Meghan? Are we seriously thinking she could also have a hybrid role?”
