King Charles 'firmly of the opinion' that Prince Harry can never return to royal duties

King Charles is “firmly of the opinion” that Prince Harry cannot return to royal duties, it has been claimed.

Sources have agreed that King Charles and Prince William – along with other members of the Royal Family – are in “solid agreement” that Harry will not return as a working royal.

This comes after The Times claimed that Harry was happy to “step into [a] royal role while his father is unwell” but sources state there that there is no way back for him in “any way, shape or form”.

During the ‘Sandringham Summit’ in 2020 – shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex revealed their plans to step down, the late Queen expressed her opinion on the couple’s desired “half-in, half-out” approach.

The late Queen voiced that this was not going to work and insisted that Harry must give up his royal afflictions and to not trade on his connections – especially if he were to undergo work abroad.

A source told the Daily Mail: “The terms of the accord were very clear and nothing that has happened recently, including the King’s illness, has changed that.”

Another insider claimed that, although Harry and the King have been speaking, it doesn’t mean that the former working royal will be offered anything – even if on a “temporary basis”.

The King, who was spotted making his way to the church on the Sandringham estate over the weekend, reportedly also does not plan to “offload a great number of duties on other family members”.

It has previously been reported that the King was showing signs that he is “ready” to reconcile with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Previously speaking to GB News, Dr Ed Owens said: “He is demonstrating he is ready to reconcile and that ultimately, the onus is on them to make a decision as to whether they want to heal the wounds that have opened up between them and the rest of the Royal Family.”

Earlier this month, within hours of the King’s cancer diagnosis being made public, Harry travelled over to the UK to see him face-to-face.

Meghan Markle remained in the US with their two children, Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2.

Harry is known to have had a very short 30-minute meeting with his father at Clarence House, and was spotted leaving just 45 minutes after arriving.

During a recent interview for Good Morning America, Harry – who was in Canada last week – hinted at more future visits to the UK.

He promised that he would pay more visits to his family, stating that, “I think any illness, any sickness brings families together.”

Harry’s past visit to the UK last just 25 hours, with Harry spotted back at Heathrow Airport the following afternoon.
