Just Stop Oil mob humiliated after April Fool's prank goes spectacularly wrong

Just Stop Oil have been humiliated after their April Fool’s Day prank turned into a nightmare. The eco-zealots posted a mock front page of the Daily Mail on April 1, claiming the group was now sponsored by Gorilla Glue.

However just one day later they have been forced to post a humiliating clarification on X, formerly Twitter.

On Monday, the group said: “BREAKING: Just Stop Oil Announce Sponsorship Deal with Gorilla Glue. Speaking about the deal, Mark Mercurio, President of Gorilla Glue, said: “As an eco-conscious brand, we are extremely excited to announce this new partnership with Just Stop Oil. From glueing to roads or government departments, our incredibly strong range of polyurethane epoxies will keep environmental defenders in place for longer.””

The post prompted hundreds of replies, with many immediately cottoning on to the prank.

“Happy April 1st,” one X user replied.

Another said: “Hmmmmm. *checks calendar* Yup. Thought so.”

Meanwhile another pointed out: “I know it’s a joke but Gorilla glue is made from oil.”

The group also changed their profile picture to the Just Stop Oil and Gorilla Glue logos, but have now been left reeling less than 24 hours later.

Embarassingly, the mob are now stuck with the fake Gorilla Glue logo after they couldn’t change it back.

“We do NOT have corporate sponsors, including Gorilla Glue,” they said. “However, X won’t let us change our profile picture back.

“We ARE funded by small donations from ordinary people.”
