Jacques Delors dead: Former EU chief and Remainer dies aged 98


Former EU Commission president Jacques Delors has died aged 98. His daughter Martine Aubry confirmed the staunch Remainer died on Wednesday, December 27.

Delors was the founding father of the European Union’s historic single currency project, served as president of the European Commission, the EU executive, for three terms – longer than any other holder of the office – from January 1985 until the end of 1994.
