The final moments of the doomed MH370 flight have been recreated, showing its fall to the sea in a death spiral.
Experts believe that the plane ran out of fuel while flying for six hours in the wrong direction over the Indian Ocean.
The Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing, China, flight went missing in March 2014 after it lost contact with radar control.
MH370 gave a chilling final radio transmission from the cockpit as it said goodbye to Malaysian air traffic controllers: “Goodnight, Malaysian Three Seven Zero.”
According to lead investigator Kok Soo Chon, instead of going straight to Beijing, the aircraft “made a right turn then a left turn and went in a south-westerly direction”.
The turn-back “was not because of anomalies in the mechanical systems… we can confirm the turn-back was made under manual control”, he said.
It remains a mystery why the change of direction was made.
National Geographic documentary Drain The Oceans recreated the plane’s descent. Engineers have said the right engine would have blown out first, causing the plane to spiral.
The high-impact smash into the ocean would have killed all 239 people on board. There were 227 passengers and 12 crew.
The full wreckage was never found but is believed to be somewhere in the Indian Ocean.
But a fisherman has recently claimed that one of his nets snagged the wreck, saying he accidentally hauled one of the plane’s wings many years ago.
