I’m a cabin crew member – this is why you should always book a 5am flight

A cabin crew member has explained why passengers should opt for an early morning flight when jetting off abroad. USA-based flight attendant Caroline took to the social media platform Instagram to share her advice on air travel.

She recommended that people book earlier flights to avoid delays and minimise disruption. “I know you don’t want to wake up at three in the morning to catch a 5am flight. But I promise you the earlier your flight is, the smoother everything is going to go,” she said.

As well as discussing why it is better for passengers to book earlier flights, Caroline also had some suggestions on how people can ensure their trip is as smooth as possible.

The Sun reported that she said people should always check how long their layover time is if they’re changing flights because sometimes people leave it too soon, increasing their chances of missing their flight.

Caroline explained: “You don’t want to be stressed and rushing from your flight and not make the next flight and then the one after is oversold.”

She also recommended that passengers should download the app of the airline they’re flying with because it will also make their journey smoother.

Caroline explained: “You can find out if there are any delays and get information on your connecting flight and which gate it is at. There is so much information on them.”

Caroline isn’t the only flight attendant to have offered advice on the best way to travel. Posting on TikTok, one flight attendant advised that families who haven’t been able to book seats together should speak to the gate agent.

She said: “If you are travelling with your family or someone else and you all are not sitting together, please make sure that you talk to the gate agent that’s standing at the podium before you get on the aeroplane.

“Because once you get on the aeroplane it’s going to take more time for the flight attendants to potentially try to seat you together. Also, it’s easier if we can swap, like, a middle seat for a middle seat as opposed to an aisle seat for a middle seat.”
