Eggs are a culinary staple, often found in fridges or on kitchen counters due to their remarkable versatility. They can be whipped up into scrambled, boiled, poached, or omelette forms. Although not the healthiest option, many prefer their eggs fried, served atop toast, with avocado, or as part of a hearty full English breakfast.
Yet, there’s a trick to making your fried eggs both healthier and more delicious. Renne from Kudos Kitchen suggests ditching the frying pan for an air fryer, proclaiming: “Step away from the stovetop with this fast and cool cooking method.” Renee advises using butter instead of oil for a richer taste, but for those watching their waistline, a spritz of cooking spray is a great alternative, reports the Express.
The blog’s followers have been quick to praise this innovative approach to frying eggs. Shadi Hasanzadenemati enthused, “Love how simple and easy this recipe is! I’ll be making it again!”
Callie exclaimed: “Omg this is one of the best ideas ever. Thank you. Too easy. They came out perfect.”
Jenny Lavender shared her approval: “Loved this recipe – will probably make my fried eggs this way from now on instead of using the pan.”
Celia George was equally impressed: “Oh, my gosh — thank you for this incredible method of frying eggs — yes, because each machine is different, you will have to get your exact doneness by trial and error — and by pausing your air fryer to check on the doneness. But this method works.”
How to make fried eggs in the air fryer
Ingredients
One large egg
One tablespoon of butter
Salt and pepper, to taste
Method
Start by adding a small aluminium pan to the basket of an air fryer. You can use a cake tin, just anything that fits in the basket.
Place the butter in the tin and heat at 180 degrees for roughly one minute until it melts.
Next, break the egg into the warmed tin. You can cook multiple eggs simultaneously, provided they fit in the tin.
Subsequently, reduce the air fryer’s temperature to approximately 170 degrees to fry your egg.
For over-hard eggs, this process should take about eight minutes, although timings may vary depending on the air fryer. If you prefer a runny yolk, it should only take between four to six minutes.
