A fire broke out in the basement of Tiffany & Co.’s flagship store on New York’s Fifth Avenue Thursday morning.

Videos posted by users on the Citizen app showed smoke coming from the basement of the store, with firefighters on the scene.

Details on injuries from the fire were not immediately available. Fire Department officials planned a briefing at the scene later Thursday.

The store, made iconic by the 1961 movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” reopened last month after a four-year renovation, led by architect Peter Marino.

The New York store is the headquarters of the luxury retailer founded in 1837 by jeweler Charles Lewis Tiffany. The company was acquired by LVMH in 2021.
