Duchess Sophie rewears jumper not seen for six years as she serves tea and cake on visit

During a royal engagement serving up tasty treats to senior citizens in Woking, the stylish Duchess of Edinburgh was spotted wearing a blush pink item of clothing, recycled from her wardrobe.

The fashion-focused duchess chose to wear a homely blush pink roll-neck jumper from Max Mara – an item that had not been spotted for six years.

A royal commentator, wrote on social media how Sophie must have done some “deep digging” in her closet, observing the “Max Mara sweater hasn’t been seen since 2018”.

Dressed appropriately to serve delicious delicacies, Sophie also wore a Massimo Dutti Hooded Wool Vest, which she later removed and replaced with an apron to avoid any stains on her clothing during the event.

To keep warm during the winter season, she paired the warm jumper with an oatmeal wool and cashmere blended skirt from designer, Gabriela Hearst – a designer known for sustainable luxury.

Fans were quick to comment on Duchess Sophie’s style on Instagram. User, @sdcarfie1 said the duchess “looks good in pink”. Whereas user, @slavic.witch, wrote: “The skirt is perfect.”

The Duchess of Edinburgh, 59, rolled up her sleeves and joined volunteers at The Lighthouse in Woking for its weekly get-together for senior citizens on January 31.

The charity aims to “encourage, empower and equip” people through different projects to help “transform lives”.

Donning an apron over her pink jumper and wool skirt, the royal went through donations for the community fridge and even helped to serve treats including a birthday cake decorated with candles for one guest.

As reported in Hello! Magazine, the centre manger for The Lighthouse, said: “It was a brilliant afternoon and a highlight at the start of this year for our little community. The Duchess made everyone feel so special, showing genuine interest and care to our guests, and rolling up her sleeves with the volunteer team.”

The Duchess is familiar with The Lighthouse and its work, as she has made several visits to its food bank during the pandemic.

Duchess Sophie opened the Jigsaw hub for parents and families and became the charity’s patron in 2022. The charity has around 300 volunteers, working together to tackle deprivation and isolation.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sophie also made a stop at the Surrey History Centre, a short drive from her home at Bagshot Park.

The Duchess of Edinburgh is continuing her royal duties alongside Queen Camilla and the Princess Royal in King Charles and the Prince and Princess of Wales’s absence, while they recover from medical procedures.
