Customer outraged after being handed £37k bill at Salt Bae's London steak restaurant

A Londoner was once left absolutely gobsmacked after getting a massive £37,000 bill at Salt Bae’s posh steak place. In 2021, the restaurantgoer had a super pricey dinner that cost as much as some people make in a whole year. In total, the bill came to a huge £37,023.10.

The receipt was shared on Snapchat and it showed that four people ate at the fancy restaurant in October 2021. Someone wrote: “That’s just taking the p**s” because the food they ordered was so expensive.”

They had a Golden Tomahawk steak for £850, which is a steak with gold on it, and 16 pieces of a sweet treat called Nusret Baklava with ice cream for £400. They also had some costly extras like broccoli for £14 and fries for £30.

And there’s more. Astonishingly, Gordon Ramsay has a burger that costs £80 at his Harrods restaurant, and you have to pay £9.50 just for chips.

The biggest part of the bill was the drinks. One old bottle of wine from 1996 cost £9,100, and they had two bottles of another wine for £9,950 each.

On top of all that, they had to pay an extra 15 percent for service, which made the bill go up to £37,023.10.

People on Reddit couldn’t believe it when they saw the picture of the bill.

One social media user commented: “Receipts from this place are just the latest social media flex. I don’t know why anyone should care…”

Another added: “I am not sure what I find more scandalous, that this place charges sky-high prices for pub quality menu, or that there are people convinced that this is actually good cuisine.”

However, one person pointed out that the hefty bill was largely due to the wine ordered, stating: “You spent £30k of the £37k bill on Petrus. That’s not the restaurant ‘being expensive’ that’s you buying a crazy expensive wine.”

Regardless of opinions on Salt Bae (real name Nusret Gokce), his restaurant has certainly sparked conversation.
