Pregnant Meghan Markle claimed royals axed her security despite plea that she felt unsafe

During the same interview, Harry claimed the decision to axe their entire security team happened with “short notice” and very soon after they stepped down as working royals.

The couple stressed they were concerned over their safety while Meghan claimed she wrote emails to the Firm asking them personally not to remove their security.

Harry added: “While we were in Canada, in someone else’s house, I then got told, short notice, that security was going to be removed. So suddenly it dawned on me: ‘Hang on, the borders could be closed, we’re going to have our security removed, who knows how long lockdown is going to be, the world knows where we are, it’s not safe, it’s not secure, we probably need to get out of here.”

The Executive Committee for the Protection of Royalty and Public Figures (RAVEC) removed Prince Harry’s automatic right to police detail in February 2020.

Meanwhile, last December Harry said in a statement released as part of a hearing to have this decision overturned: “It was with great sadness to both of us that my wife and I felt forced to step back from this role and leave the country in 2020.

“The UK is my home. The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the United States.

“That cannot happen if there is no possibility to keep them safe when they are on UK soil.

“I can’t put my wife in danger like that, and given my experiences in life, I’m reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way too.”
