Crown Princess Mary's cryptic Christmas message after Danish royal affair scandal

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark posted a very cryptic message about loneliness and human interaction as she reflected on “every precious moment of the past year” ahead of the Christmas celebrations, weeks after pictures of her husband, Crown Prince Frederik, with a Mexican socialite were published, sparking allegations that he was having an affair.

The Danish royal said the past year felt shorter than previous years.

In a letter on the Mary Foundation website – which aims to fight social isolation – the mum-of-four said: “Time is a peculiar thing. The more years you have covered, the faster the next year seems to pass by. At the same time, you become more and more aware of how precious every moment – and every year – is.”

The Crown Princess shared some highlights of her foundation, including the launch of its program Lift at the beginning of the year, which aims to tackle loneliness among young people.

Mary stressed on the need for human interaction and togetherness saying: “Now Christmas is at the door. At the Mary Foundation, we will soon close 2023 and go on Christmas break with gratitude for all that we humans can do when we do it together. We need each other if we want to succeed.

“And this does not only apply to working life and to those of us who work to combat social isolation. It applies to all of us. People need people. With the warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

The post – which was also shared on the Danish royal family’s Instagram – was accompanied by a picture of the royal in the snow.

Royal fans seemed to fully back the royal, with one commenting on Instagram: “The Danish royal family are lucky to have you. I hope your husband realises he has embarrassed you and his children immeasurably. You will make a fine queen.”

Another one wrote: “I think you could succeed without Fred!”

It comes a month after the Danish royal family were hit by a scandal over ab alleged romance between Mary’s husband, Crown Prince Frederik, and Mexican celebrity Genoveva Casanova.

The heir to the throne was pictured with the socialite in Madrid as they attended a Pablo Picasso exhibition.

Casanova has denied the rumours of the alleged affair stating: “We are friends and the photos prove nothing. I want to make it very clear that I have no relationship with him, as some suggest.”

The Danish royals have not commented on the rumours and adopted a “business as usual” approach.

The Crown Princess had been staying in Australia since December 6, connecting with family, with many speculating it was somehow linked to the affair rumours.

But the family of five are said to join Queen Margrethe at Marselisborg Palace in Aarhus for the festive break.
