Boris and Carrie Johnson were pictured taking their young daughter to their surprising “favourite shop”. Carrie shared the image on her Instagram story, showing Boris holding one-week-old Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson, or Pops. The text over the photo read: “Introducing Pops to our favourite shop.” The shop in question being B&M, famous for its bargain home products.
The branch is believed to be in Oxfordshire as the couple live in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell after paying £3.8 million for a grade II listed property in 2023. This isn’t the first time the former prime minister has been spotted shopping in B&M.
In May last year, he was seen in the Didcot branch, leaving with a bag of shopping in hand. He was pictured arriving in a green Toyota Previa people carrier.
A fellow shopper said: “I was at B&M in Didcot and my wife said ‘I think that’s Boris Johnson’ – it was definitely him.
“It was just really interesting to see the ex-Prime Minister shopping at a B&M in Didcot. He got in a really old car – it was a Toyota Privia.
“You don’t expect to see him in an old car, you expect to see people like that in flash cars – it was a people carrier type of car, so he must use it to carry the kids around.”
The former mayor of London has longstanding ties to Oxfordshire, attending the prestigious university to study classics at Balliol College from 1983 to 1987.
He also served as Conservative MP for Henley between 2001 and 2008.
More recently, he was turning away from his local polling station after forgetting his ID.
