If you’ve ever accidentally left a tissue in your pocket and washed your clothes, you know how much it can wreak havoc inside your washing machine.
The tissue will disintegrate and stick to every item of laundry, resulting in tiny tissue particles stuck to everything.
Luckily, there are ways to remove tissue particles from clothes without having to pick off every single piece of tissue.
Fans of cleaning sensation Mrs Hinch have shared a handy hack that could save you both time and money.
Facebook user Susan Attisha asked Mrs Hinch fans on the social media platform how to remove tissue from her clothes that had been in the washing machine.
Susan’s post was inundated with responses but the most popular suggestion was to use aspirin.
Geraldine Baines said: “Put them back in the machine put four or five dissolvable aspirins in the drum wash at 40C and it will all disappear. I’ve been using this method for years.”
Steph Martin replied: “Aspirin soaked in a bucket gets it out the best.”
Mandy Harrison Carhart agreed and wrote: “Put them in a bucket of water with aspirin overnight. I don’t know how but it works!”
Diane Ingamells commented: “Soak two dissolvable aspirin in cold water for half an hour then rinse through. Works for me every time.”
Caroline Hollywood suggested: “Dissolvable aspirin in the wash, works every time.”
Sarah Garrett agreed: “Put two aspirin in the washing machine and run on another wash – amazing results.”
Aspirin works by dissolving the tissue without damaging clothing, according to experts.
Aspirin can be bought from most local supermarkets and pharmacies.
Boots Aspirin 75mg Dispersible Tablets cost £1.99, Sainsbury’s Aspirin costs 50p and Tesco aspirin costs 50p.
Other suggestions from Mrs Hinch fans for removing tissue debris from clothes included using a tumble dryer and tape.
Vicki Pethick said: “Tumble dryer is by far the best.”
Linda Shattock commented: “I find the tumble dryer is the best way.”
Diane Jeavons replied: “If you haven’t got a tumble dryer try using tape to dab it off.”
