Inside the 'quite brilliant' way Princess Kate outshone Meghan and turned disaster around

Princess Kate is widely believed to have outshone her sister-in-law Meghan Markle as the royal households fragmented; albeit in her own way.

The mother-of-three, who celebrated her 42nd birthday this week, has been praised for remaining dignified in the background while Harry and Meghan took the limelight but ultimately burned out.

Speaking on GB News, Mail editor Charlotte Griffiths said Kate opted to play the long game in order to outshine Meghan, also 42, who went hunting for fame and glory.

She said: “What Kate’s done, which is what she’s brilliant at, is just stood back, stayed calm, stayed quiet, and just waited for Harry and Meghan to thrash it out.”

The strength and power of Princess Kate and Prince William was on full display at Christmas when they were seen with their three children, putting on united front, with Harry and Meghan were in the US.

Royal author Phil Dampier told The Sun: “With even Prince Andrew’s ex-wife Fergie being allowed to walk to church and join them for lunch. The message was clear – everyone was welcome except Harry and Meghan.”

Although Kate, William, Harry and Meghan once appeared to enjoy a close relationship, everything changed after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding, when reports emerged of friction between the two women.

And when they moved to America, things only got worse.

Harry’s memoir Spare, which was the biggest selling book in 2023, shattered his relationships with members of the Royal Family that were already struggling after the tell-all Oprah Winfrey interview.

While Meghan also went searching for fame, including a podcast on Spotify which was canned after just 12 episodes, Kate got on with her royal duties and did not engage in responding to the many claims made about her.
