Alabama house used in 'Big Fish' movie burns after lightning strike, storm


An Alabama prop house seen in the movie, “Big Fish,” erupted in flames after a lightning strike on Sunday.

“We lost a house in the Town of Spectre tonight after a lightning strike,” Jackson Lake Island announced on its Facebook page.

The goats that live on the island were unharmed by the storm. “All the goats were safely under the church,” according to the Facebook post.

The house was one of the prop structures created on the Big Fish set for the fictional town of Spectre. Big Fish, a Tim Burton film released in early 2004, was adapted from the book, Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions.

The Millbrook Fire Department responded to the incident.
