Airline passenger raises eyebrows with 'diabolical' hack for skipping luggage charges

A savvy airline passenger has unveiled a clever but “diabolical” hack for outsmarting the system and avoiding exorbitant hand luggage fees.

Lucian, a TikTok user with the handle @isthatmike03, shared his travel wisdom in a viral video that has garnered over 572,000 views.

The man chose to employ his cost-cutting strategy while flying with Ryanair, a renowned low-cost carrier notorious for levying additional charges for services such as seat selection and carry-on baggage.

Despite paying a mere £10 for his plane ticket, which entitled him to bring only a small backpack, Lucian managed to avoid extra fees by purchasing clothes upon reaching his destination.

In the video, Lucian encouraged fellow travellers to reconsider shelling out hard-earned money to airlines for additional luggage space.

Instead, he proposed a unique approach – utilising the money saved from avoiding baggage fees to purchase clothes at the travel destination.

By adopting this unconventional method, Lucian not only dressed himself for the entirety of his trip but also ensured that he didn’t have to spend a single dime out of pocket. He said: “Stop paying those airlines your hard-earned money just so you can have extra luggage.”

Lucian also suggested using a credit card for these clothing purchases instead of a debit card, enabling him to essentially rent a wardrobe without incurring any actual expenses.

He said: “Take all the clothes to your accommodation, plan your looks, and wear a fashionable outfit every single day. And at the end of your trip, just allow yourself a bit of time so you can take everything back and return everything.”

Upon arriving at his accommodation, Lucian advised taking the time to plan daily outfits. Remarkably, at the end of the journey, he advocated for returning all the purchased clothing items, essentially transforming the process into a temporary and cost-free clothing rental.

Lucian’s video received widespread acclaim with comments expressing admiration and support for his inventive approach.

One person wrote: “This is DIABOLICAL I love it.” Another said: “I am literally shaking in my boots!!! Thanks for the tip bestie.”

Someone else chimed in: “I support this as it’s like free clothing rental and generates less waste.”

However, not everyone was on board with the idea. Some viewers shared their concerns about becoming too attached to the clothes, potential spills, and the necessity of washing them after buying them.

One person wrote: “Tried it and got attached too easily and I didn’t return them anymore.

Another commented: “I’m too messy; I’ll spill food and drinks all over.”

Someoine else wrote: “This is why everyone should wash clothes after buying.”
