Air fryer pizzas which cook in seven minutes are ‘super quick’ to put together – recipe

Small pizzas are ideal when cooking for one or wanting a hot meal at lunchtime.

Their small size means they are perfect for air frying too, taking just a few minutes in the appliance.

While there are several ways to make them, BBC Good Food has shared a five-star rated recipe.

The recipe notes said: “These pizzas are super quick to put together, whether you make our speedy no-prove dough or use naan or flatbread as a base.

“These pizzas are an ideal working-from-home lunch or quick dinner on busy weeknights.”

Ingredients:

400g tin plum tomatoes

300g self-raising flour

One teaspoon of baking powder

Half a teaspoon of salt

300g plain yoghurt

Four sprays of olive oil spray

200g firm mozzarella cheese, grated

Toppings of your choice

Method:

Start by emptying the tomatoes into a sieve over a bowl and squish them with a spoon to break them up slightly.

Set aside for them to drain for 10 minutes and then set aside the drained tomatoes in a bowl.

Meanwhile, mix the flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl. Add the yoghurt and mix with a knife or your hands to form a soft dough so divide into four pieces.

Roll each piece out on a well-floured surface to a circle that fits in your air fryer and then preheat the air fryer to 205C.

Lay one pizza base on the rack of the air fryer and spray with olive oil once, then prick with a fork a few times.

Cook for three minutes, remove, flip over and return to the air fryer for another two minutes.

Take out the basket, place it on a wooden board and spread a quarter of the drained tomatoes over the pizza before adding the toppings of your choice.

Cook for four minutes until the cheese is bubbling and the base is crispy.

Remove and repeat with the remaining pizzas before topping each pizza with rocket if you fancy.

The recipe notes added: “Use firm mozzarella cheese as mozzarella balls retain a lot of moisture. However, if you have time, you can drain fresh mozzarella balls by leaving them to soak on kitchen paper, covered in the fridge, for a few hours or overnight.”

If you don’t want to make the pizza dough from scratch, this recipe can also be used with naan breads or flatbreads.

Pizza wraps are also a popular option but small wraps may need to be used instead to fit the air fryer.
