60p cupboard essential removes stubborn mould from tile grout in 'a few moments'

Cola can be bought from most local supermarkets or online for as little as 60p.

Colm Lalor, commercial director at nuie, said the “easiest” method to remove mould from tile grout is to use bleach and water.

Colm suggested dipping an old toothbrush in a solution of one part bleach to four parts water before scrubbing the grout.

Rinse away the bleach with water being careful not to scrub too hard as you may damage the grouting.

Cleaning experts at Mira Showers suggested using an all-purpose cleaning product to clean tile grout and an old toothbrush.

Spray the tile grout with the solution and scrub it thoroughly with the toothbrush.

Louise Allen, co-founder of Fountain Filters, said bathroom tiles are particularly susceptible to mould growth if you don’t use a shower curtain.

She suggested using bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar to clean tile grout. She explained: “To combat this issue, you should regularly clean these areas with baking soda and vinegar.

“To ensure this problem isn’t repeated you should make sure that there is adequate ventilation in your bathroom to prevent moisture accumulation, a common catalyst for mould development in our bathrooms.”

Fabulosa’s chief fragrance officer, Jennifer Sharpe, suggested using washing up liquid and baking soda to achieve “spotless grout”.

Mix the washing-up liquid with the bicarbonate of soda to create a foam and then, using an old toothbrush, apply it to the grout.

She added: “Leave the mixture to do its work for a few minutes, then wipe away with a damp cloth to reveal a sparkling shine.”
