Real reason King Charles gave unprecedented surgery details laid bare by palace insider

A palace insider believes it was “sensible” of King Charles to be open and honest about his medical procedure because of his status as a monarch and the wish of the public.

Royal author, Robert Hardman, claims the King was “leading by example” as the surgery announcement last month came differently than any past royal announcements.

Mr Hardman, speaking to People Magazine, said: “In both the Princess and the King’s cases, this shows a handling of very personal, very delicate matters that you wouldn’t have seen in the past. It would have been a much more guarded
response. It shows they are adapting to the times.”

A royal insider additionally noted: “It was sensible to be more open about it, as otherwise, people might have thought the worst.”

On January 17, Buckingham Palace informed the public the King was due to undergo corrective treatment for an enlarged prostate.

King Charles, disclosed his diagnosis in hopes that it would inspire men to get checked for the condition. After the announcement, there was a 1,000 percent jump in searches about prostate enlargement on the UK’s National Health Service website.

Past health announcements of Royal Family members often remain vague or sometimes aren’t released until after treatment has been completed.

For instance, after Queen Elizabeth II had a cataract operation in 2018, the news wasn’t revealed until a month later, as she was spotted wearing sunglasses.

On the same day as the public was informed about King Charles, it was disclosed Princess Kate was due to have “planned abdominal surgery” which has since been reported as a success.

While Kate’s health news was only revealed after her surgery took place, Charles’s announcement came ahead of his planned procedure.

While Princess Kate left the hospital privately, King Charles was photographed making his exit alongside his wife on January 29.

A statement issued by Buckingham Palace read: “The King was this afternoon discharged from hospital following planned medical treatment and has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation.”

The reigning monarch also thanked the medical team supporting his visit, and the kind messages he had received during his hospital stay.

Prince William also cleared his calendar to be by Princess Kate’s side and support their family and he is expected to resume public services a few days after Kate has rested at their home in Adelaide Cottage.
