4 killed in shooting in Atlanta suburb; suspect at large, officials say

Four people were killed in a Saturday morning shooting in an Atlanta suburb and a shooter is at large, officials said.

The “active shooter incident” happened at about 10:45 a.m. in Hampton, a small city of about 8,000 residents some 30 miles outside Atlanta, Georgia, Henry County said in a social media post. The specific location of the shooting was not immediately clear.

Melissa Robinson, public information officer with the Henry County government, confirmed that four people were killed and that a suspect was still at large as of about 3 p.m.

Officials urged residents to avoid the Dogwood Lakes area, where the shooting broke out, because the suspect had not been taken into custody yet as of Saturday afternoon.

Local police agencies were investigating and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was notified, officials said.
