At Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October 2018 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, Zara Tindall was caught gossiping with the now California-based couple – Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
There was one rather cheeky comment Zara was caught making to Harry that might have caused a bit of awkwardness behind the scenes.
Zara Tindall turned around to face Prince Harry and Meghan, and made a passing comment about Harry’s own wedding to Meghan which had taken place a few months before.
According to a lip reader, as reported in the Mirror, she told the prince: “It’s very quiet compared to the screaming at your wedding.”
In response, he asked: “Mine?”
Eugenie and Jack picked the same wedding venue as the Sussexes for their special day, but they were very different occasions.
Both guestlists were filled with celebrity guests, with George and Amal Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, and the Beckhams joining the royals for the Sussexes’ big day on Saturday 19 May, 2018.
Meanwhile, Ellie Goulding, Cara Delevigne, Demi Moore, and Naomi Campbell were at Princess Eugenie’s wedding.
On Princess Eugenie’s wedding she wore an ivory garment with long sleeves, folded shoulders and an open back that was followed by a flowing full-length train. Eugenie chose to wear no veil at her wedding but she opted to pair her gown with the Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara, which was lent to her by the late Queen Elizabeth II.
It featured an enormous 93.70-carat emerald at its centre, with six smaller emeralds on either side. At Eugenie’s wedding, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their first pregnancy.
A glimpse into this decision was highlighted in Harry’s tell-all book, Spare. He confessed: “The various gatherings connected to the wedding would give us a chance to pull aside family members one by one and tell them our good news.”
However, in their book Royals at War, investigative journalists Dylan Howard and Andy Tillett claim Meghan made the decision to tell people – and it didn’t go down well with Harry.
They claim that it left the Duke of Sussex “embarrassed”, and Princess Eugenie and her mum Sarah Ferguson “furious”.
They write: “Meghan put her foot in it when she decided that it would be the ideal moment to announce that she and Harry were expecting their first child.
“This was a huge social gaffe, even if you were not a Royal – stealing the limelight from Eugenie, who was furious, as was her mother, Sarah.”
