A woman has been left utterly bewildered after her neighbour issued a ‘ban’ on her engaging in sexual activities past 10pm, branding it as ‘rude and inappropriate’. The woman, residing in an apartment with particularly thin walls, insists she’s always been mindful of those living around her.
Despite her efforts to keep noise levels low, especially with music, it seems her nighttime escapades have vexed one neighbour to the point of penning a letter of complaint. Taking to Reddit, the woman posted the note she discovered in the apartment corridor, with a straightforward caption: “Found in an apartment hallway.”
The message from the disgruntled neighbour read: “Hey! It’s your neighbour. I didn’t want to have to write this but it’s really bothering me now.”
They continued to express their frustration over the timing of her loud intimate moments, especially on school nights when others are trying to focus on studies or sleep, reports the Mirror US.
The neighbour added a personal disclaimer: “I apologise if my boyfriend and I have been loud but it is never on school nights because he is long distance. And again, I really don’t care how loud you are as long as it’s not at 10pm/11pm/12am and so on.”
They pleaded for quieter weeknights, suggesting that louder activities be reserved for weekends.
Concluding the note, the neighbour offered an olive branch: “Again, I apologise if I have ever caused a disturbance. If you need to talk to me, obviously you know where I live. Thanks, your neighbour.”
The letter sparked a mix of amusement and empathy among users, with many sharing tales of their own encounters with noisy neighbours. One person recounted: “My upstairs neighbour does CrossFit workouts at midnight.”
They added, “I’m pretty sure he’s a medical resident so I don’t say anything and just deal with it but it’s not ideal.”
Another user expressed mock outrage: “Having sex at 10 on a school night? ! Absolutely scandalous!”.
A third found humour in the situation: “Omg I laughed so hard at this! As a downstairs neighbour in San Diego since July 2022 who has had four very different long term tenant upstairs neighbours and a series of Airbnbers it’s a whole journey of furniture movers, stompers, and playing fetch with the dog inside with assorted toys including a honking chicken dog toy!”.
Yet another pointed out: “This is a very legitimate complaint, and the neighbour should try to be quieter at night? It would be the same if they were playing loud music.”
And one more user was puzzled by the notion of weekends being unproductive: “As someone who works on schoolwork at home on weekends, what? I’ve never heard someone call the weekend a time where nobody is trying to get anything done.”
