The sun finally comes out in April, but in the colder months, grime and condensation can build up on your windows. If left too long, this can lead to stubborn smudges on the glass and mould growing around the frame.
Anna Moseley, has shared that washing dirty windows is “super easy” as it can be done with simple items already sitting in your kitchen. She said: “Traditionally, you think of washing your windows with glass cleaner and some paper towels, but today, I’m going to challenge you to do it differently.”
Cleaning windows in spring can be tricky, as the hot sun can cause most cleaning solutions to bake into the glass, leaving streaks.
Instead, Anna has shared that white vinegar and just a few squirts of washing-up liquid will leave windows gleaming and spotless.
White vinegar is one of the best ways to clean glass naturally. It contains acetic acid, which can break down most dirt while also evaporating extremely quickly.
Washing up liquid has been designed to remove stubborn grease stains, but it is also effective in breaking down the oils and other residue that can be found in glass.
This is a quick and incredibly simple way to remove smudges on glass without having to buy cleaning products. You can enjoy crystal-clear windows that let in more light.
Anna said: “It will save you money, because you won’t use up all of your glass cleaner, and it’s environmentally friendly! The best part is that it’s guaranteed to leave your windows streak-free!”
How to clean windows without leaving streaks
You will need:
- 120ml of white vinegar
- A few drops of washing-up liquid
- Squeegee
- Microfibre cloths
- Paper towels
- Cotton buds
Method
To begin, wipe down with warm water mixed with washing-up liquid to remove any dust or loose dirt on the glass.
Start at the top and make your way down in a straight line. After each stroke, use a squeegee to wipe away any excess water, but do not worry if any moisture accumulates on the windowsill.
Use a new clean cloth and white vinegar to go over your windows to get rid of any grime or streaks. Then, dry the glass with paper towels.
Wipe your windowsill with white vinegar, paper towels, and cotton buds to reach any nooks. White vinegar can also kill any mould or mildew growing on the wooden panels.
Your windows will be sparkling in just 10 minutes without worrying about leaving behind any streaks.
