The excitement of Wimbledon is back, and as the temperatures continue to rise, so do the prices at the stands to enjoy the sport in all its fullness. There is nothing quite like the sun blazing over the courts, white crisp shirts throughout the crowd snacking on your favourite nibbles and something bubbly in your glass or mini champers with straws!
Whilst prices have risen over the years, seeing a packet of Haribo’s starmix go from £3.50 in 2021 to now setting fans back £5, there are now a few perks some fans can benefit from if they are banking with Barclays.
If there’s one thing we all associate Wimbledon with, aside from the most talented tennis players in the world, it’s strawberries (and Pimm’s).
Hundreds of people in the crowds are often spotted enjoying strawberries when watching the likes of Emma Raducanu and Carlos Alcaraz in action.
For years, Wimbledon strawberries have been provided by Hugh Lowe Farms, which is farmed over approximately 500 hectares just 31 miles away in Mereworth. The family business delivers the strawberries fresh each morning over the two weeks of the championship.
This year, the price of strawberries and cream at Wimbledon is £2.70, a 20p increase from 2024.
The Wimbledon website reveals: “On average there are 200,000 portions of strawberries and cream enjoyed during The Championships!”
It’s also the first time the cost of the iconic dish has risen in 15 years.
However, Barclays customers are in luck this year, as they can claim a free portion of strawberries at Wimbledon when visiting the grounds.
To tuck into the complimentary sweet treat during your visit, the Wimbledon website explains: “Visit the Barclays app to get your QR code and redeem your treat.
“You can pick up a portion of this quintessential part of the Wimbledon experience at outlets around the Grounds, and a plant-based vegan friendly cream alternative is available at all Strawberries & Cream outlets on request.”
