William and Kate's favourite country bolthole where they will spend rest of Christmas

Prince William and Princess Kate are likely to spend the rest of the Christmas holidays at their nearby home of Anmer Hall with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

The family was seen relishing the Christmas festivities with other members of the Royal Family at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on December 25.

Considered their preferred residence, Anmer Hall was bestowed upon the couple as a wedding gift from the late Queen. It is situated on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk. The 18th-century red-brick dwelling located in the village of Anmer, Norfolk, England, lies 12 miles northeast of King’s Lynn and two miles east of Sandringham.

The current architectural design of the house is described as late-Georgian, but there’s speculation that it might have been constructed earlier around a pre-existing smaller structure.

King Edward VII acquired Anmer Hall in 1898 from Ernest Terah Hooley, with its origins tracing back to the Coldham Family, who owned it from 1705. Between 1972 and 1990, the house was leased to the Duke and Duchess of Kent, with intermittent occupancy by other families, notably the van Cutsem family, known for their close ties with the royals.

Hugh van Cutsem, a university friend of King Charles, and his four sons (Edward, Hugh, Nicholas, and William) have maintained a longstanding friendship with Prince William and Prince Harry.

Notably, Edward van Cutsem served as a pageboy at the wedding of King Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales. In January 2013, the Queen allocated Anmer Hall to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as a wedding gift.

Extensive renovations, costing £1.5 million and funded by private Royal Family resources, were undertaken, including a new roof, conservatory, kitchen, and a significant tree-planting initiative for enhanced privacy.

The family resided in Norfolk full-time from 2015 to 2017, primarily because Prince George attended the nearby Westacre Montessori School. Presently, their primary residence is Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Estate, with additional access to Apartment 1A of Kensington Palace and Tam-Na-Ghar cottage on the Balmoral Estate in Scotland.
