Amazon customers have been raving about a single malt whisky that’s dropped 22% in the retailer’s sale. The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve Single Malt Scotch Whisky is now on offer at £30.99, down from the usual £39.50. This whisky has been distilled in the heart of Speyside and features notes of zesty orange, pear and toffee apples, which combine to deliver a long, cream and smooth finish. It has been matured in traditional and American first-fill oak casks, which offer a smooth, creamy sweetness that blend with the ‘delicate flavours’ and ‘fruity tones’. The Founders Reserve single malt has won several awards, including the Silver Award at the 2022 International Spirits Competition and International Wine and Spirits Competition. This whisky can be enjoyed neat or be used to craft a range of cocktails like a Hot Toddy, Carnivale or The Last King.

It also comes with a giftbox making it the ideal present for any whisky-loving loved one – or yourself. The Glenlivet Founder’s Reserve has achieved a near-perfect 4.8 star rating after more than 10,000 Amazon reviews, only 1% of which are less than three stars. More than 8,500 customers have awarded it a glowing five-star rating. One happy customer said: “I’ve had several bottles of this over the last few years in my malt whisky journey.

“I keep a bottle on the shelf as it’s reliable, gentle and flavoursome. It has the flavours of yellow fruits with an oaky element. It has none of the sharp or sour tastes that can be found in many young whiskies and the alcohol kick is well controlled. It is a great value malt to keep as an introduction to malt whisky for visitors that fancy trying for the first time.”

Another said: “I really like this. It’s very smooth with a very light smoky flavour that comes through after you’ve swallowed. It’s light in colour and smells divine. There are lots of different hints of taste and they’re all lovely. It’s slightly milder than my current favourite, a Jura, and I think I’ll buy more of this Glenlivet Reserve.”

A third whisky fan said: “The Founder’s Reserve is the most dependable whiskey you can possibly buy. It’s drinkable, with a smokey twist (probably the fact it is from Speyside). It’s fairly versatile and cheap. This is even great in cocktails.”

Not everyone is a fan though, as one reviewer said it ‘functions ok as a cooking whisky’ but tastes like ‘lightly wooded water’. However, another five-star review simply said: “Didn’t last long, need to buy another.”
