A bus carrying Wales players and staff was involved in a road traffic collision on Tuesday, it has been revealed. A training session was due to take place at the Arena St Gallen in Switzerland ahead of their second Euro 2025 group stage match against France on Wednesday. However, the session had to be abruptly cancelled because of the crash involving their bus.
The news was announced at the start of a scheduled press conference on Tuesday afternoon. No injuries were reported among the players but an ambulance was on scene attending to the driver of another vehicle, according to BBC Sport. The crash reportedly took place near the team hotel, the Wellneshotel Golfpanorama in Lipperswil.
Wales manager Rhian Wilkinson, who was not on the bus at the time of the collision, said: “This is really developing right now so we are trying to be as clear and transparent as possible.
“I think everyone, from all reports, is OK and we just need to get them all together and get everyone away from the scene to reassess. We’ve got great staff, great support and we will make sure that everyone continues to be OK.
“More importantly I think the driver of the other vehicle is OK as well. We will let everyone know once we know for sure.”
