Vladimir Putin's 'spies' arrested in Germany as 'horror security plot sabotaged'

Two people who allegedly planned sabotage operations in Germany on behalf of the Russian secret service have been arrested, according to German media.

One suspect has been accused by the German Federal Prosecutor’s Office of acting as a secret service agent, acting as an agent for sabotage purposes and “depicting” military facilities in a way that endangers security, German news outlet SPIEGEL wrote.

The suspect, investigators reportedly believe, may have been exchanging ideas with Russian secret service contacts about sabotage operations in Germany since October 2023.

The arrested suspect allegedly agreed to carry out arson and explosive attacks on military infrastructure, arms factories and industrial sites, with a focus on, among other targets, transport routes used for the delivery of military goods, the German news outlet reported.

The suspect is also accused of having scouted and taken pictures of US military facilities in Germany and sent images to his Russian contacts.

The suspect was allegedly supported in the activities he is being accused of by another man, who has also been arrested, of being an intelligence agent.
