Vladimir Putin's mouthpiece warns World War 3 'will definitely happen in our lifetime'

One of Vladimir Putin’s most fervent propagandists believe World War 3 will “definitely happen in our lifetime”. Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Russian state-controlled broadcaster RT, appeared as a panellist on the Russia-1 channel.

Her comments added to fears around the world that are growing over a possible armed clash between NATO and Moscow. In a bizarre rant, Ms Simonyan said there is bad and good news coming with her conviction that WW3 is inevitable.

In a video shared on X by Anton Gerashchenko, former advisor to the Ukrainian Internal Affairs Minister, Ms Simonyan said: “I believe there will definitely be a third world war.

“There is bad news and good news. The bad news is that it will definitely happen in our lifetime if tomorrow, God forbid, a brick won’t fall on the head.

“The good news is that we will not participate in it, but will watch from the sideline.”

The propagandist then embarked on a peculiar rant on how to define WW3, saying she believed World War 1 was “not the one” that tore apart Europe between 1914 and 1918 but, rather, the Seven Years’ War.

Taking place between 1756 and 1763, this war saw France, Austria, Saxony, Sweden, and Russia aligned against Prussia, Hanover, and Great Britain.

The propagandist added that, during that conflict, Russia “took Berlin” and later “gave it away for nothing”. In reality, the Austrian and Russian armies managed to take hold of the German capital only for a short period.

Ms Simonyan’s rant came days after several nations have expressed concerns about the possibility of Russia attacking NATO’s eastern flank.

On Sunday, the Commander-in-Chief of the Norwegian Armed Forces, Eirik Kristoffersen, said there is just a narrow window for his country to build a defence capable to withstand an attack from Moscow.

In an interview with NTB, he said: “Now there is a window that can last one, two, maybe three years, during which we have to invest even more in a reliable defence… But we are running out of time. I just want to emphasize this.”

Last week, Germany’s Defence Minister Boris Pistorius acknowledged Putin and others in the Kremlin have been issuing threats at the West for months now.
