Some people are fiercely loyal to the brand of car they drive. If you’ve only ever bought Ford models for as long as you’ve been driving, you might feel uncomfortable with the idea of switching manufacturers. Similarly, if you had a bad experience with one car make, you might not want to give it another go.
Most people also don’t buy a new car every year. These are large purchases and big investments that often last until the car stops working, gets written off, or is more expensive to service than it’s worth.
All this means that we tend to get very familiar with our vehicles. We know them inside and out as we use them every day to drive to work for several years at a time without switching.
However, some Vauxhall motorists are only just realising their cars have got a hidden logo somewhere on the inside – and the placement of the design changes depending on which vehicle you’re driving.
The hidden design can only be found in Vauxhall Corsa models, and its location will change depending on the year the Corsa you’re looking at was manufactured.
According to the Capturing More Cars account on TikTok, every Vauxhall Corsa made since 2006 has a hidden shark design inside – and some are easier to spot than others.
The car expert in the video shows a Corsa from 2022. The video shows the etched image of a shark in the cup-holder area of the centre console, just in front of the gear stick.
However, in older models of the Corsa, the shark is harder to find. In a model from 2009, the expert said the shark is hiding in a very unusual place.
You have to open up the passenger door then glove box, and look at the hinge that’s closest to the door. You should be able to make out the shape of a shark drawn onto the plastic hinge that lets the glove box open and close.
Why do Vauxhall Corsas have shark motifs inside?
The Vauxhall shark can actually be dated back to 2004, when Opel designer Dietmar Finger was sketching the glovebox design for the new Corsa and found the structure needed ribbing to reinforce the plastic.
While he was sketching various designs, his son asked: “Why don’t you draw a shark?”
Finger was amused by the suggestion and decided to try it out by incorporating the shark shape on the glovebox hinge. And the idea resonated so well that the design team decided to keep it – and have hidden it in every new model since.
