Police in a leafy Cheshire village have issued a ‘Stranger Danger’ alert after two attempted child abductions over the past month. In two separate incidents, two men tried to entice lone boys into their car as the youths walked alone along a street in the village of Leftwich, a suburb of Northwich, in Cheshire.
On each occasion, police say a car pulled up with two men inside and wound down a window. In the first incident, the pair asked the boy where he was going and what he was doing. The second victim was told to ‘get in the car’.
Thankfully, in both incidents, the youths refused to speak to the men, went home and told their parents.
Now officers have gone public with a warning across social media – using a shocking ‘Stranger Danger’ graphic to emphasise their concerns.
A spokesman for Northwich Police explained: “Unfortunately there was no vehicle details so we have no lines of enquiry as of yet to this.
“Both reported issues have occurred within the Leftwich area, but this could happen in other areas.
“We ask all parents within the community to speak to their kids about ‘stranger danger’, not speaking to anyone they don’t know.
“And also to encourage them to speak to you their parents if anything has happened. Communication is the key between parents and their children.”
