Alerting the Food Standards Agency (FSA), Waitrose has asked customers to return two food products that are “unsafe to eat”.
Anyone who has Waitrose 8 Red Onion Bhajis with a Date and Tamarind Dip is being asked to return the product to the store.
Waitrose said: “We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
Due to a labelling error, the product currently shows an incorrect use-by date, which makes it unsafe to eat.
Customers are advised: “Do not consume, package the item, [and] return the product to your local Waitrose and Partners branch for a refund.”

The supermarket had recently issued another customer notice about a popular cheese product.
No 1 Waitrose and Partners, Farmhouse Kirkham’s Lancashire cheese needed to be recalled due to the possible presence of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC).
Public Health England said people infected with STEC can have a combination of symptoms, such as:
- Bloody diarrhoea
- Stomach cramps
- Fever.
Symptoms might persist for up to two weeks without further complications.
However, a small number of children might react by developing haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS).
HUS is a “serious life-threatening condition resulting in kidney failure”.
A small proportion of adults may develop a similar condition called thrombotic thrombocytopaenic purpura (TTP).
STEC is contagious, so anybody infected with the E. Coli strain can pass it on to others.
Public Health England warned: “Disease can spread easily within families and in other settings such as day nurseries, primary schools, [and] nursing homes.”
There is no treatment for a mild infection, and people will need to let STEC run its course.
Public Health England added: “It is important to drink plenty of fluids as diarrhoea can lead to dehydration.”
