Businesswoman and barrister Lady Samantha Carbisdale has withdrawn her offer to Prince Andrew after receiving a mountain of violent threats. The owner of the 19-bedroom Carbisdale Castle in Sutherland had originally offered Andrew a place to stay, with the invite extended via social media last week.

She suggested that her estate was “more fit to receive a prince” amid reports of calls to evict Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson from their 30-room Royal Lodge. Despite her decision to withdraw the offer to Andrew, she has communicated to both King Charles and Prince Andrew that the castle would continue to be at the disposal of the royals if they require the property in the future.

Posting via Facebook, she detailed how she had written to the King to update him on restoration work at the castle.

According to Lady Samantha, the King had been following with the proposal with interest.

With the location of the castle being very remote, Samantha showed an interest in wanting to offer it as a place for Andrew to escape the scandals he is currently facing.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Samantha said: “I am writing to the prince to offer my castle for his exclusive use – and that of his family, including his former wife, Sarah Ferguson.

I feel strongly that he is being hounded unfairly. He remains innocent of these allegations. I am also prepared to offer to represent him against these allegations and over moves to oust him from his current property. I really think he has been treated badly…”

She continued: “I believe the Prince, like anyone else, must not be judged by public opinion without a proper hearing which he was not given.”

Following a series of threats, she then posted to social media: “Many of these views were hostile towards me in response to offering my Castle to the Prince, some threatening violence and even criminal damage.”

After having purchased the home in 2022, she explained that, given these circumstances, she believed the arrangement would not be feasible unless the Crown specifically chose to utilise Carbisdale Castle.
