UN votes in favour of Gaza ceasefire after months of talks


In a groundbreaking development, the UN Security Council has almost unanimously voted in favour of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The United States was the only country abstaining in the vote in a major policy shift.

Antonio Guterres wrote on X: “The Security Council just approved a long-awaited resolution on Gaza, demanding an immediate ceasefire, and the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.

“This resolution must be implemented. Failure would be unforgivable.”
