There is no need to put the deckchairs and sun cream away just yet, as temperatures are predicted to  reach above 30C in several counties by the end of this week. According to new weather maps from WXCharts, several areas in central and western England will see temperatures of up to 31C tomorrow, Friday, July 18.

The maps predict that the counties of Holland in Lincolnshire, Norfolk, West and East Suffolk, Huntingdon and Peterborough, Cambridge and Isle of Ely, Bedford, Hertford and parts of central London will see the highest temperatures. A large part of England, meanwhile, will bask in temperatures in the high 20s, with 29C predicted across much of Wiltshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Kent and West and East Sussex. These temperatures will also be seen as far north as Lincoln and Notts.

Even on the West Coast, Wales and Northern Ireland, temperatures are still predicted to reach up to 22C.

However, this heatwave is not set to last long, as temperatures will plummet to a maximum of 24C across much of the south of the UK by Saturday, July 19. By Monday, July 21, highs of only 20C are currently predicted in areas like Southampton and Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the UK is predicted to be hit by a wall of rain, quickly replacing the summer heat with stormy weather. Weather maps from WXCharts reveal an intense wall of rain stretching from Plymouth in the southwest to Wick in the far north of Scotland. The heaviest rainfall is predicted to hit Scotland, particularly areas around Inverness and Aberdeen, with precipitation rates expected to exceed 8mm per hour in places.
