The UK is braced for a barrage of rainfall within just days. The latest weather maps from forecaster WXCharts show the exact date the nation will be hit by a 740-mile rain bomb.
The wall of rain will stretch from Plymouth in the South West of England to Wick in northern Scotland on Sunday (July 20). According to the Met Office, there will be “widespread rain” as well as cooler weather throughout the whole weekend. The weather maps show the rain arriving on Sunday morning before becoming heavier and more widespread by 12pm.
At 12pm, a wall of rain will be spread across the UK, with the heaviest downpours expected north east of London. WXCharts expects up to 5mm of rain to fall per hour in this area at this time.
Meanwhile, other parts of the UK, including Plymouth, Southampton, Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester and Newcastle will see up to 2mm of rain fall per hour at midday. The rainfall will then persist throughout the day and into the evening.
By 3pm, the rain is expected to have eased near London but up to 3mm per hour could fall in Herefordshire. Meanwhile, parts of Yorkshire could be hit by up to 2mm per hour.
Wales and the South West of England will be clear of rain by 6pm but there will be further downpours in London and the Midlands. There will also be more rain in the north of England and parts of Scotland at this time.
However, WXCharts is predicting a return to warm weather on Monday, July 28. Maps show parts of Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire baking in 30C temperatures once again.
The Met Office long-range forecast, which covers Sunday, July 20 until Tuesday, July 29 expects temperatures to “average out above normal” during this period. There is also a chance of “hotter and humid days” across the nation.
